I agree Kahnefreak it is all the divisions that make the show worth going to at Barrie . As far as none of the drivers at Barrie having won a championship I really don't see how that has anything to do with anything . If somebody thinks Barrie is easy pickings there wrong .
i agree with you totally on that Pinecrest. It's not as easy as you think it is trying to go out there to win races. It took me 4 years to win my first race and I have won 4 races at Barrie this year. Competition is there, that's for sure and I see it in every division. There are a couple of really fast cars though in each division but the competiton is pretty fierce still. Just because somebody isn't a big name like Gaunt or Walters does not mean they don't know how to race. Look at Denny Hamlin in the cup series...He was a nobody and everybody thought he was a joke until he starting winning, now he has a lot of fans and support. Same deal at Barrie. People are just gonna have to get use to changes every year that's all. The cup series is an example. look at all the moving around guys are doing this year for next year. It's tough to get use to and sometimes I hate getting use to new drivers and drivers in new cars but that is the reality of racing and most other sports.
Kahnefreak, l give you credit those are some really good points,I have been going to Barrie for many years and many on this forum have developed the attitude that it is quality not quantity and only the best run at barrie in the llm division, well if they are the best no one has accomplished anything yet.It is laughable that people are under the delusion that it is the Mecca of llm racing.
Is that how Baker going to win the championship this year. AS his Crew Chief is Cheater Schotanus.
speedwaybob are you speedwaysues dad ? or are we back to the multiple ID thing again ?
I am not a big fan of Peters but I think he is an excellent fabricator . If you know how they are cheating you need to lay it on out but just taking pot shots at the guy from a key board is very lame. From the few times I have been to Barrie this year I think Baker is going to win the championship using that age old dirty trick of out driving everyone else from what I have seen .
Speaking of Schotanus he got caught with an illegal locker rear end last season and they turned a blind eye with a don’t have it next week warning. He got caught with illegal ignition with Watson and Walters all 3 had a different part number Schotanus was so busy trying to hang Walters that he did not realize that his man and Watson were illegal and Walters had the only verifiable G.M part as acknowledged by G.M. it got swept under the carpet and another emergency Barrie rules amendment. Another Schotanus move was the adjustable oil filled shocks that just happened to have a shop rag half draped on them in tech but Management stepped in “no way to test them,” another emergency rules amendment.
The classic was the illegal clutch they had to take the clutch out for inspection Schotanus put a torch to the legal one and then dipped it in the fluid so it looked like it had just come out of the car the tech guy nearly lost his hand. This Saturday watch for yet another new emergency amendment to the rules for L.L.M. clutches Guaranteed 100% or your money back.
I will have to say I agree that Barrie is not the Mecca of LLM racing. Neither is Sunset or any of the tracks around here. That being said we have some solid tight racing here in ONTARIO, and we in the Barrie area have the advantage of being close to a lot of action within 3 hours driving distance. Do I feel that there is some solid drivers in this area, yes I do. Do I feel they are Nextel Cup material, no, probably not, but most of the people who are involved in this sport at this level are in it for competition that is not at N/C level either. And the shift has occured where guys breaking into cup are 17-18 years old, when I was that age they were 30 breaking in. Most L/M drivers are in their 30's or 40's. I'm 33 and I know my time has come and gone for my shot at the big leagues. What we are talking about here is (and I tried to explain this to some other people somewhere else) LOCAL SHORT TRACK STOCK CAR RACING. If you were to try to find out how many communities have a local track in North America it would be in the thousands. Is the next Ernhardt or Petty or Pearson going to come from this area? Maybe, but probably not, the odds are against it. We have legends, local legends, guys driving for years winning championships and races who are still around, they didn't get to cup (except Vic Parsons a long, long time ago). And like Kahnefreak says it is hard to win a race or championship, I don't want to take anything away from that accomplishment, and yeah we all can be very passionate about our sport, our car, our track, but it's like all the hockey fathers who think their kid is gonna be Gretzky. Do I feel lucky to have the level of competition that we have here, absolutely. But understand it for what it is.
