So where does it stop? I remember Junor Johnson saying at the hall of fame induction "The more things get complexed, the more you need to start over again". The way the $$$ is now, the more the promotors need to be careful.
I totally agree with fly and Charlie on this one. I ran a Thunder for 10 years without mush cash, but still mid pack most years. It was stunning in the matter of two years with the body, engine and tire changes, my top 5 thunder went to back of the pack in a hurry. All of a sudden, even with a complete car to start with, it was gonna cost 10k plus to be competitive again. This class has gotten WAY outta hand already, and it sounds as if they are tryin to make it more so...
Thats Right Redneck, say you buy the other car the prince has for $4500, I have a motor for $1200, $1500 for heads, 2101 intake, freshend, seat $200 6 tires $600. Thats leaning low on prices, $8000, no tools, spares, trailer, truck assuming the car doesnt need updating.Start everything new? More like $18-25K. Scary!! You then could buy Charleys car turn key with trailer for $3500, I dont know much about #7 car, other when and who built it, or the trailer, but deals like that are the only way to brake into thunder.
Knowing Charlie turn key means a smokin 305 a tranny that only has first gear, and a utilitytrailer meant for a lawn mower lmao 🙂 (dammit Charlie laugh!!!!)
the car i have needs no updates, firewall is out, full tin kit etc. etc. when barrie intoduced the so called"new gen" that was the biggest mistake in thundercar. i'm not being rude thayne but who cares what sauble, sunset, kawartha etc are doing, you race at barrie!!! if you want to run saubles rules for invi's then register as a sauble car and change your cam. i like a bit of evolution like everyone else but look at the cars that are running at barrie and sunset now. please don't take this the wrong way; at both tracks you maybe have 5-10 cars that are pretty competitive in one pack. then you have the other 10 - 15 in a pack all running together behind without a real shot of winning. those cars are the real thunders that haven't been updated most likely due to cost. good drivers, no wallet! we need to stay the same if not even scale back a tad and get as many people back to being in the mix as possible. we can't afford to lose cars and in my opinion this class is the best racing in the province. late models are dying a slow death and this is the time for our division to flourish. when i built charlies car in 2001 it cost me 12,000 without engine to build. i had 6000 bucks in my car last year and won the championship, it can still be done fairly reasonably and be competitive. if people want a late model then go buy one and increase their car counts and keep that division alive. meanwhile leave ours alone. just my opinion!
