I get it Jim, I put more into my car myself than 3/4 of the people in the division put into their cars....I am just lucky my rents and sponsors do a lot too....but people just assume....
My point is, when i played BAseball with the Ontario Junior Jays...it was 1500 once you made the team....then 500 a weekend for games in the states, not to mention the trip out west to play the BC team for our LLWC entry. It cost us thousands and I got awesome experiences out of it...thats where i'm coming from...mind you....there was like a 2 dollar front gate...not 15...i understand the more 'professional style' to this....I made 3100 this year out of my payouts...pretty damn good...I care enough that I keep track...
I was just giving a different opinion and point of view.
If you want Charlie i'v got one of those portable garages that you can use for the winter as very little breaks my heart like a racecar having to endure the elements, and you can still work on it.
In 09 when I went at it pretty full bore I towed to 25 races (3 rain outs) from capital city to flamboro and all points between. Most of the time I could Finnish mid pack, some better runs and some wrecks. After all was said and done after all cheques where cashed from winnings of $3700 and minimal sponsorship I was in the red close to $4000 all cash, nothing racecar ever goes on a credit card not even fuel in the truck. That's a very large expense for a family to commit to. I don't ever expect to get rich doing this but if we family guys (& gals) are to keep at this we need to be aware of what cheque is waiting for us each week that's the only way to keep at it.
+1 Jim.
Pay a dead late model class, when thunders cost MORE then a llm. ::)
Ya Dan, and a win at Flammy at the end of the year!
I had fixed up the car from Pete and figured I had cheated death by hitting the wall inftont of everyone lol, so I was like ill stay home and leave it on the trailer, we will be good to go for 2011 start..........
But me being me saw $135.00 just to start all 3 at Flammy plus bonus lap leader money, so I figured oh heck why not, I just had thins motor built might as well use it. Now im triple screwed lol.
Oh well Steve Perry from Flammy bought a tranny off me the week before at the track, and I drove down there and paid the 45.00 to get in just for the one day to make sure he got it. I could have sold it to someone closer, but he wanted it, and helped me fix a rocker arm at Pete. Then he took me back to his house and let me spend the night and I got to watch Sunday, and he hooked me up with dinner and breakfast, not to mention paid my Sunday admisson!!
So I figured I owed it to those guys I partied with to go race with em at Froster. And I did, I wrecked with Bobby Mercer 3 times 8) !
