Jimmy is right on the cam issue. Tons spent on cams now to find the right one for a built. Might as well just buy a used 602 for like 2,500 bucks, or even new. You would be further ahead.
And, you can get the 602 specs from the gm web site. You know what your running, its almost an owners manual.
Not so sure if the 602 will be competitive with the thunder built motors with the open cam rule. I admit I'm not real familiar with the current Thunder engine rules at Barrie, but with the open cam how different are the engine rules from the 2004 LLM engine rules. Back then when they brought in the 602 for the LLM the crate engine cars got a 100 pound weight break and they were allowed headers.
the 602 with the smaller cam and the builts with the smaller cam and both with exhaust manifolds are pretty equal. if they leave the cam rule the way it is, they will be fine. if not, nightmare time!
Correct me if Im wrong but wasnt a huge amount of money offered a couple years back for the Triples and what actually came about was that amount divided over all the triples...I believe Dave Doucette won all of them and should have walked away with a huge amount of money alas that wasnt what resulted...If its to good to be true maybe theres a reason???
No it is $12000 for the points winner. Jim was very clear about that, its some big money almost made me want to buy a latemode. lol
