scooter check out this situation;if you raced and bought a 4 cylinder spent all your money on set up and got dq,d for too much camber and got fined what would you think?? if you bought a wrecking yard engine and somebody had shaved the head previously due to warpage or something you get dq,d and fined what do you think?? before you look at something open your eyes look at it from many perspectives and it becomes very hard. I work at the speedway and have heard many complaints about Joe from many drivers and most of them are crap but the track still heres them, so maybe blame the drivers who caused all the sh## for Joe and not the track. If anything all the track did was stick up for him but sometimes there is just too much and its better to take the politics out of it!!!
well said - hello there
I think that this decision is right. Joe is a great guy but no tech man at any track should be linked to drivers it causes contriversy no matter what, and then the tech man gets judged that he or she is biased even if they are being fair. Its not fair to the tech person, track or other drivers in that division. I spoke with Steve because I was surprised to hear this and he said there was too many people judging Joe and it wasnt fair to him or anybody else, he also said that Joe was a good guy and a good tech man they just need somebody who has no ties to cars there.
I really have to strongly disagree with your statement about Tech people not being linked to drivers. After reading your post, where are you going to find an experienced and knowledgable tech person who doesn't have some tie or connection with some racers. The necessary experience and knowledge to be an effective tech person, in my opinion, can only come from involvement with actual race cars at a race track and the unfortunate part is it's impossible to not come in contact with other racers while gaining the necessary skills and knowledge required unless you live in a bubble. Where do you suggest we find someone who is not in contact with or knows racers who is qualified to tech race cars?
We cannot work on the premise that everyone teching cars is dishonest. There are some of us who are able to tech race cars with an open mind and regardless of who the driver is, we can make the correct decision as to the legality of the part being teched and a fair decision made. I would also hazzard to guess that the people making the accusations toward tech people are most likely the same people that most likely are the ones who have many infractions on their race cars and all their complaining is just a smoke screen to cover up their illegal activity.
The tech people I know are doing this service to the racers because of their willingness to help racers compete on a level playing field and not because they can allow their friends to pass through tech with an unfair advantage. Teching race cars is a job that also needs a high level of intergrity and the best way to maintain that integrity is make sure that your friends/relatives are "lily white" with any part that is on the race car.
I don't know who Joe the tech man at BSW is but if the posts that I read on this subject are accurate, BSW has done a great disservice to the racers who wish to compete fairly and the racers at BSW should show their support for him to the track owners.
Well Said K-Man I guess I got told lol''
I disagree with K-Man I don't see why they cant find tech people not linked to drivers . Sunset has been able to find an owner , flagman announcer and most of their staff that are not linked to drivers or to racing in anyway.
