"The race's only caution would fly on lap 27, as #92 Teri Lynne Dixon went up in a cloud of smoke on the backstretch."
R.I.P Engine 🙁
i would like to thank Jeff & Greg Smith for allowing me to use their spare motor! 🙂
our race director is doing a great job.. if some of us didn't drive like neanderthals he wouldn't speak to us like neanderthals. in all reality he's only looking out for us drivers..
jim, did not know that. so, after years of watching good two lane racing at most tracks, what has changed to have only one lane to race on? is it something we as drivers have done, track surface, tires? just curious as to what has changed.
I think you could be right about driving upper lane. problem is some guys still tend to run under these pilons in practice. more rubber in the upper lane may help a bunch but more progressive banking up there would go a long way. Probably too costly to do at the moment but maybe something for the track to look into later on down the road when the economy is better.
Another thing i think Barrie needs to do is get rid of the track promoter because he doesnt stick to what he says in the drivers meetings he is always changing his mind. And the way he talks to the drivers. I was in the meeting a couple weeks ago and almost every word out of his mouth was F this F that. Like thats not right i understand he was mad or whatever but come on. And they want more cars well get rid of him and bring someone good in. The new track owners are great but he isnt helpin. Like he is taking the fun out of racing!! Let the drivers have some fun. Bring back the old school racing. Like i believe the promoter use to bump and rub when he raced like come on, its racing.
Better to have a racer as a race director then anybody else in my opinion at least they understand what's going on. Darryl did a fine job in my opinion last year. It's got to be a tough job. I know he gets heated up once in awhile and may yell but so do lots of other folks at the speedway from time to time. Good to have a hard ass sometimes. When you have such a passion for something its alot easier to get upset and frustrated
I'd like to congratulate Ed Cole (54) on his run in the thunder feature, he ran quite well and was running in the top 5 before that caution on lap 27 where he was moved to the outside groove and dropped to 7th, so congrats to you buddy. 🙂
On another note I'd like to also say congrats to late model was running 3 features caution free before the 2nd feature last week.
Lastly, Rubbing is racing has been for as long as I can remember. There is going to be contact but saying that there is clean contact and then there is dirty contact.Dirty contact which is hits that causes a car to spin out (which in turn for most cases the whole field is right behind them) or constantly pounding on someone racing through the corner which is something that should be avoided. Clean contact when a driver gets into another driver on a straight away to say "hey I'm behind you" or a tap to get him loose to get around in through the corner (which I have seen a lot of this is this season) is racing and is wicked to see but that's just my opinion. I don't think we ever said that Late Model guys were not allowed to do it. We simply stated that if you spin a car (or involved) you're going to the back.
P.S of course there is more clean and dirty hits but I only stated a few.
don, in my opinion the track has just lost grip....period. the highline was even faster than the bottom for the first couple of years, but that isn't happening now! good old wear and alot of tear. lol

this is exactly what has happened...we were spoiled for quite a long time...it's not like the track has gone away, or is super rough...just lost some grip as Jim said...it's still super smooth!
