Really short rundown tonight as the rains came and washed the show out.. Did get in 4 Heats ( 2 in Thunders , 2 in 4 bangers) as well as the first LLM 30.. Started raining about the midway point of that one, and was raining pretty steadily for the last 7-8 laps leading to a pretty slick track.. The win would go to #69 Al "Red Rocket" Inglis, who was chased to the checkered every step by the point leader #57 Ron Quesnelle who finished runner up, after having moved to that position on lap 4, passing the #11 of John Gaunt to the inside in 1&2.. #28 Robin Jongen would put on an impressive charge from shotgun on the field to finish 3rd.. There were a few cautions in this one, the first coming just a couple laps in as #2 Mike Brown, #10 Gord Shepherd and #54 Randy Bull all collected out of corner 2.. This turn of events ended the night for Bull.. Then on lap 7 the 8 of Dave Lewis, (who also might of caught a part of the 1st incident) blew his motor thus ending his night.. The third and final caution came about on lap 12, with Brown and Gaunt racing side by side for 3rd, when Brown dove into a pretty narrow opening entering 3, thus spinning Gaunt.. Despite all this the race at the front was solid between Inglis and Quesnelle, with never more than a car length separating the duo throughout the last 20 laps as they clicked off laps in the 14.9 range.. Just past midway when the rains started Quesnelle would actually try a bit of a crossover move on Inglis, looking high out of 2 then trying to dive inside entering 3.. Wily veteran Inglis didnt open up the door enough for Quesnelle to get a nose to the door and rode out that momentum to his 4th feature win of the season..
The earlier heat races I mentioned went to the 12 of point leader Jim Belesky, and #24 Leonard Johnston in Thunders.
Pure Stock heat wins went to #13 Dave Glaze, and the #02 of point leader Shawn Murray.. Nice to see 2007 champ #44 Dave Doucette in the Thunder field again, uncharacteristically "The Deuce" would have his own set of problems on this night, as he spun in turn 4, leaving a huge trail of fluid behind him in Thunder heat #1.. Well not alot much more to report than that.... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS..
hey dave, to bad rain shortened up last nights racing. down here in the metropolis of fenelon falls there was not a hint of rain. and of course no races at pete until sunday afternoon and calling for rain, lol.
Started raining this way about 8:30 HITMAN.. Didnt overly "pour" in Oro but rained hard enough and long enough ( 1 hour) that would of amounted to a very long a night to get the track dry etc.. Plus after about 20 -25 mins rain delay alot of fans were leaving, so best case scenario at that point is just to cancel and give em the raincheck option on the way out the door.. Pete is racing today?? Why so?? Now that ya mention it I do recall seeing that on the sched.. Like is OSCAAR there today or something or did they have a special last night?? As for me its a day of beer, steak dinner, and watchin Tony win at The Glen...:D
dave, pete is having thunders, open whl mods, llm, ms,legends and king of the hill. i think jp changed to sunday for this weekend as peterborough ex was on. could be wrong, just hope weather holds up.
Well good luck and hope ya get er in.. That sounds like a rather decent show actually, just cause I havent seen many Mod races personally, and they would be a point of interest to me.. Keep er in one piece HITMAN.. Any news if your gonna try and make Barrie practice this week??? Or just gonna try and come up for 3pm on Memorial race day to get your practice in.. If your are indeed headed up this coming Thurs, I'll try and make my way out and we can get caught up and do a lil benchracing..
