yep, just keep adding led, if you dont like it then move up a class, and you can win all you want with no led, 7 in a row for donaldson. its that or the old claim rule, and nobody like that one either lol.
I like the claim rule - providing : "you must run the claimed component" the next race or be disqualified from the next event.
That rarely works because there's simply too many different makes in the mini-stock class. Works great with claimed carbs in LLM / LM or possibly Thunder / SS. Same with engines.
What I like about what Mark Dilley did was pull Donaldson's motor, buy his own Crate Motor, have Donaldson stick it in his car - and sure enough, won anyway. I've not heard or read a single thing about Donaldson ever since.... all the whiners went home with their mouths shut after that.
Donaldson's Thunder is setup. Period. That team has it figured out by working hard trying everything, keeping notes and not stopping. I don't know anything about the mini "Donaldson" but I bet its the same work ethic.....
But back to the mini's.... I honestly don't know if there is a good way to solve the challenges of that class. There's simply too many different motor combinations and computers, let alone transmissions and other components. Limiting Caster / Camber perhaps, but I think that could lead to unsafe conditions on the track. I know some tracks have tried that route, which in my opinion really isn't the way to equalize the field.
You make a very good point about the Donaldson team's work ethic, espically with Kyle's car. One example with that is with them starting to lose their edge, they chose not to run the 4 cylinders at the Aug 1st invitational so they could focus on Kyle's SS and get it back to being as quick as it was. As we saw at the invitational, it paid off as Kyle won.
Why do you guys get so worried about COMPUTERS... Let's have a moritorium on COMPUTERS... Run a 8600 RPM computer if you want... BOOOM!
The first thing that has to go at Sunset is 15" tires... because the serious treads happen in 15" or higher. 14" tires are generally not performance tires. Limit the tires to 200 treadwear. Hence the A048... which says the same as Hoosier DOT race tire``not for street use: for racing only`...Back the cement truck up to the 240`s like the Neon DOHC is getting. Then we`ll see who comes out on top.
Ben, your cars have gotten very stale. Just the way it is bro. You guys had the moment in the sun. Figure out a new deal.
How did a Barrie Speedway Thread become about Sunset Four Bangers BTW huh
Stale? I didnt know cars were like bread. Are you aware my bro went to varney the other week annd pulled the hattrick? Are you aware glaze has a hard time breaking the top 5 at sunset, but went to barrie and won 6 of 6 races? And Barries current point leader runs half a second slower than I used to at Barrie? I guess we will see this weekend. There will be at least one Melenhorst 240 at Barrie,
Anyways, this is off tpic

is this illegal?
Nice to read your comin back for a race or two Ben.. I enjoy watchin you and your bro wheel those 240's around..And you need not worry about comments from the Sunset folk sayin " Hes just taking the easy way out" type stuff.. I got your back on that!!! 😉
And ya that RC car although you cant see it well was pretty cool.. Apparently it does upwards of 70mph and can run on grass, dirt, pavement you name it... It got a really big pop from the crowd actually..
Not the easy way out. The cheap way out. Why spend a couple grand on a motor/gears/rims/tires/computer when I can run somewhere else and actually make money.
