I think Urlin surprised Laperle by diving so far inside Turn's 1 & 2 and having the edge coming into 3 & 4 and Patrick was mad at himself for not protecting the inside a little more. So what do you do, you stand on it and gambled - with both losing coming out of 4.
Post event stuff - I wasn't there so can't say what, whom, how that all unfolded, but IF it was fans going into the pits and trying to get into a rumble with the team, that's unacceptable.
this will likely be the end of fans in the pits-even with pit passes, if they are not a working member of a team.
Similarly it might mean the end of grandstand fans being allowed into the pits post race.
As far as my first statement-about time-but the promoters will miss the extra revenue
looks like like good hard racing to me. I think Jon's reputation got him in this one!! The fans had no business getting involved.

shame to see that nice hanley car get tore up.
Patrick was mad at himself for not protecting the inside a little more.
Urlin's move was made well inside pitlane and in what is normally considered out of bounds. Jonathan grew a large set of caoones to make that move in 1 & 2, unfortunately he could not make it stick. Which had them bouncing off each other and the wall down the back stretch (there is a second video supporting that).
In 3 & 4, Laperle tried a move that worked in the past on Donald Theetge... except this time when he got on the gas the ass end kicked out (from the cold?) just as Urlin was trying to occupy that space. Urlin's car rammed Laperle's right-rear sending him into the wall and bringing Urlin with him.
I conclude by saying
1&2: was trying something which was tolerated earlier in the race (not to that extent, but the local race director went on record to say he would have penalized Urlin for that) but over driving it...
3&4: was two hard chargers trying to get the lead with just a little over 1 to go. a racing deal.
M.P.
MP what is the other racing link?
Thanks
