Just got back from Varney and have too say I always say how great this track is but today was a bit of a joke.
I had too leave early cuz i just couldnt take the Latemodels wrecking anymore. 6 cautions in 45 minutes and only 3 laps counting. Worse than the hobbies.
First feature they let 7 street stocks run 30 laps, then 8 or 9 modifieds run 30, but then they cut the mini stock feature from 30 to 15 laps because of a wreck that involved 5 or 6 cars. And a couple of them got their cars back out for the re-start. Which they announce with 12 laps on the board, was going green/white/checkers.......to the dumbfounded crowd..lol. This wasnt the only wreck....there were a couple of spins that didnt need cautions because the drivers were off the track enough or had enough time to get spun around but the caution was early.
And this feature included a few guys that should, for sure, have gotten black flags for taking guys out....but....they end up kicking one car off, #34, which didnt seem to be a fan favorite for ramming his way to the front....but they kick him off because he was told to go tail while they were putt-putting around on caution and when he came around again, instead of just telling him again to go tail, they sent him off....now maybe he said something to the flag man, but if he didnt that was pretty bush.
And i'm not saying Bailey had anything for Cremasco, but anything can happen in 15 laps.
Thundercars were probably the best class of the day, with some great racing and just a couple fender bangers.
Then the latemodels.........the last wreck we saw the 2 drivers were out of their car challenging each other too a fight.......yes we werent the only ones by then, heading home early to beat the traffic.
The racing that did happen was great tho....and the weather, while not sunny, was great to watch an afternoon of racing.
