I have raced at varney for 12 years, some nights the car comes home wrecked, most nites it does not.I have also raced flammie and wrecked, sunset and wrecked, barrie and wrecked, sauble and not wrecked.Point is stuff happens everywhere, sometimes you are involved, sometimes not.If you are scared of having to fix your ride, take up knitting.

I raced there in 90-91 in street stock and it was a wreckfest everynight. I love the place, great fans, great facility and great people. At that time there were no rules and the track never did anything to curb it. They have done a great job over the last few years to clean up the racing and I hope it will pay off with better car counts. JMO
love the pics of the track and cant wait to do some laps myself and get wrecked or not...lol.
Where exactly was Varney measured? i keep hearing 1/4 mile, and being compared to Barrie of old, and other 1/4 mile tracks, but I think it must have been measured around the furthest point to the outside, as I'm positive it would have fit in the infield of Barrie lol. That being said, I just can't see 20 or more Thunders on that track ACTUALLY racing...I think it would be wrecking.
I agree with Thayne, The one and only time I raced Varney, I was Intentionally wrecked by a Varney regular, who told me "to take my car back where ever it came from and dont bother comming back". So I took his advice and went back to racing instead of wrecking. Not a good first impression of a track. Mind you things may have changed in the attitude up there, but the track itself does not lend itself well to big car counts, and competetive racing untill there are alot less cars. With the cost of running these Thunders now, who wants to go to a track that your pretty sure your coming home with a bent piece, just for an Invitational?
Pete is a different animal totally, It is the biggest, and the end of the season (after points) you got all winter to fix it, its all or nothing, so don't try to compare it.

lol, I always thought that too. If its a full 1/4 I'll eat my hat. But then maybe with the improvements they'll actually make it a full 1/4.
