i ran 2 years at varney in challengers and cant remember anyone in any of those years taking their car home in a basket and we started 22 in a regular feature 24 for specials...the diff might have been the flagman mark dixon was good and any crap you got the black flag no questions...if you dumped someone you were done for the nite... in minis you have a total mix of drivers with diffrent experience, so u have to expect the un-expected there for sure...in minis i've been wrecked twice on opening nite by a rookie...both times they over corrected..in stead of heading for a nice soft piece of grass infiled they both decided it would be better to comeback across the track and into the wall...lol...its racing, it happens...the intentional stuff is what should piss u off...i cant wait to see the track finished and its too bad they arent in the series...and i gotta see sunset this year too...
I raced there for 2 yrs and we took our car home in a box everynight
the blocking is what causes most of the garbage i must say,
I hope Varney is paved as well as the new layout, i hear its a ruff track. It would be good to have this track in the series and *in the loop* of the other tracks, same could be said for Flammy.
But, as Thayne said, he wont take his car becouse its to ruff and tight. I can understand that, when someone has a car like his, that has alot of time, money, and PRIDE in it, it easy to understand why he would only want to race it at tracks that took the same approach to their facility. Barrie has it, Sunset is getting it. Will Varney be next, will see!
i hope not...alittle wider, and alittle more bank sounds great...but who wants to race tracks that are all the same...
certainly dont blame anyone that wants to keep a nice ride...but the track is what it is...just like bristol is bristol and daytona is daytona...
scott, like i said it must have been the flagman because we were scared to run into anyone then as we knew we were gonna be parked...
great food, clean washrooms, northern hospitality, lots of types of racing
and the view from that covered grandstand is next to non...lol.
i actually can say i had plus dollars in the account after each year then too running flammy saturday nite and varney sunday afternoons...
You think the place is rough, try running it in a Junior or Mini-Truck! I absolutely love the layout, but it is hard on equipment. I ran about 4-6 races at Varney, and at least 3 of them featured large wrecks caused by mechanical failures I have rarely seen. Two heim joints broke on trucks in the top 5, and the last time we were there, the truck running second had a spindle break on the right front on the last corner of the last lap and destroyed the truck on the turn 4 wall.
