V8 SUPERCARS HEAD TO PHILLIP ISLAND AS 2015 CHAMPIONSHIP NEARS ITS CLIMAX
With the Championship wide open V8 Supercars moves to Victoria this weekend for the penultimate event of 2015, WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint.
Mark Winterbottom, David Reynolds and Craig Lowndes will go head-to-head as each driver desperately chases the Championship trophy.
With 600 points up for grabs over the final two rounds, Winterbottom will be looking to return to his winning ways and extend his 239-point lead over Reynolds, with Lowndes just a further point away in third place.
Winterbottom’s previous visits to Phillip Island have netted two wins, seven podium finishes and four pole positions.
Reynolds has shown great speed in the back half of the season, with a win on the Gold Coast and podiums in New Zealand as he chases his Prodrive Racing Australia teammate.
Veteran Lowndes is looking for his first Championship win since 1999, and will be pushing hard at Phillip Island where he shares a record nine race wins with Mark Skaife.
The on-track action at the WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint starts on Friday with two hour long practice sessions.
Saturday morning will bring another practice session, followed by two qualifying sessions and two 60km races in the afternoon.
Sunday brings the fantastic True Colour Track Walk in the morning, followed by qualifying and the 200km feature race in the afternoon.
The WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Channel 506 across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Network Ten will broadcast highlights packages on both Saturday and Sunday. Please check local guides for correct times.
