The much anticipated 2013 V8 Supercar calendar has been revealed in the first season that Holden and Ford face new rivals in Nissan and the Erebus/Stone Brothers Racing AMG E Class.

Four marques will line up on the grid for the first time at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from February 28 to March 3, with the season closing on the streets of Olympic Park in Sydney from November 29 to December 1. In all 16 events will be staged.

V8 Supercars unveiled its 2013 season in New Zealand today, marking the return to the traditional home of Kiwi motorsport at Pukekohe Park next April. V8 Supercars also makes its North American debut at the Circuit of the Americas from May 17-19.

In the only major shift Phillip Island returns the November timeslot as an important prelude to the grand final of the season at Sydney's Olympic Park.

"It's a very exciting calendar with a fantastic two month climax to the season," V8 Supercars CEO David Malone said.

"As a sport we are ultimately aiming for consistency of events year on year and largely we have achieved this in what is a very complex process.

"We are very happy with the way 2013 shapes up for the fans, the teams, sponsors, Government partners, our broadcast partners and the sport."

V8 Supercars will have its traditional Test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 16 prior to the Clipsal 500 and the Australian Grand Prix.

Aside from the season opening test day Sydney Motorsport Park will not host an event in 2013 having been brought into this year's calendar as a one-off in 2012.

V8 Supercars will continue to work with Sydney Motorsport Park on future events.
