Craig Lowndes to be honoured at Clipsal 500 Adelaide
Six time Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes will be honoured at this weekend’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide as he breaks the record for the most number of rounds by a V8 Supercars driver.
Lowndes will eclipse the record he currently shares with Russell Ingall, when he starts his 251st round in Adelaide.
To celebrate the milestone, Lowndes will do a lap of honour before Saturday's first race to allow fans to show their appreciation.
V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton said it would be a fitting tribute for the six time Bathurst winner and three time V8 Supercars Champion.
"Craig Lowndes is not just a great of Motorsport but one of the greats of Australian sport. He is a genuine household name and a firm favourite with fans across the country," he said.
“At nearly 42 years of age, Craig has shown incredible endurance and resilience, and his efforts in 2015 where he won his 100th race, his sixth Bathurst 1000 title and finished runner up to Champion Mark Winterbottom demonstrate there's little chance of him slowing down in the near future.
“The V8 Supercars family congratulates Craig on this wonderful achievement and looks forward to him being a big part of the sport for many years to come."
