ok maybe i was harder on sunset as it is not the worst but i think every track should have all the stats.
that way you can build a better history of your track and drivers and teams can have things to shoot for and the track announcer has more statistical info to work with for the fans like any play by play man would have. drivers can shoot for most wins in a season or most whatever you have kept track of. things seem more important when someone keeps track of them here is an example.
Some 16 year old comes to sunset this year races a LLM and wins 7 features and 11 heats.
If all the stats were kept for sunset and all the tracks from when they started, you could market your track with 100% truth that this guy at your track was the best rookie in ontario in 40-50-60 or how ever many years or all time ....that is a good story for the media....the more media the more likely a possible sponsor hears about this guy before he comes knocking for a sponsorship one day because everyone in racing is talking about him and the kid and the track and racing makes the news.
without the statistics all you can truthfully say is this kid is a good racer, not for sure the best all time or in how ever many years, and it's less hype and less marketability of a story which may not make the news at all and the kid or the track are never noticed or it is harder to get sponsorship for him and racing stays in the shadows.
you could pay some kid $20 bucks a night to do it and throw it in a box for gods sake
i wonder how many tracks know who the record holders are at their tracks??? or how many have kept all of there results in their history? anybody know?
Well I have the results of every time trial ( Cascar, Cascar Sportman, and barrie LLM's and LLM feature at barrie since the 2005 season does that count??? And I dont think we ever have to worry about somebody breaking some of the records at Barrie, especially Shaughnessy's for most feature wins in a season!!! That record is untouchable and if I'm wrong about that I'll boil then eat my underwear right on the start finish line!!!LOL
