No tex, that was tongue in cheek about 8 different tires, they offer 2 types, the hoosier racing tire and the recaps that only sunset runs in all of canada, others run the trac-masters that you guys have which would deffinately make more sense. Glen was all about good tires and cheap tires for every class for some reason?? I just dont understand why these NOODLE HEAD promoters cant just sit down and agree to run one type of tire, one type of carb, and runn the same shocks?? Oh ya! that might actually make sense? 😛
so how many retreads are out there?
Do you actually want me to list off how many retreads we have??.......err......uhhh....oh! Tires! hahahaha, sorry, misunderstood!!
My name is Steve, and I am a retread user!
So now seriously, go to the towel city website and you will see the distinct difference between the barrie tire and the Sunset "Massey Ferguson" spec tire or the tire that looks like the old biasply's that the vintage mods used to run.
Steve are those recap tires on the Hoosier cores or the radial cores like the old Diamond Backs? It seems to be the same "Minneapolis Moline" tread pattern. And Ross the recaps come in all types, 880, 990, Sportsman, there are others. That's just the cores they used before recapping.
And the Vintage Modifieds are now using the American Racer tire now. They seem to get about a year out of those from what I heard... $155 a tire, that was a couple, 3 years ago.
So you guys can run either brand new Hoosiers or the Towel City's? That's crazy...
Someone definately should standardize the TC rules throughout the province... Maybe a Racing Association should be created and get all of the Thunder Car drivers in it, have a seperate points standings for the class, run wherever you want, whenever you want...
good idea tex>>>u can be in charge>>>lol

Dunno if I confused you with the talk of sticker Hoosiers. Sticker Hoosier are the track tire at Mosport and Kawartha. I have no idea about Sunset..
The different rules actaully do make sence. Running the retreads at Barrie or Sunset you can get away with them, save you guys a few bucks. I'm sure thats why the call was made. At Mosport they get torn up (not to scare you guys away from coming, but the recaps aren't going to last long term is what I understand, your track cars were running them at kawartha).
Personally I'd go with the new Hoosiers for the extra $100 per car. I have a feeling they are going to last longer than the retreads to the point of they actually cost you less per season. Also the could be a 880, 990, Sportsman is crap. They are going to have different sidewalls and respond differently. About as much fun as looking around the junkyard for a set that will work... And last again the ones I saw had old cracked sidewalls. If they are going to retread atleast use a decent core!! Heck who dosn't have a few old Hoosiers laying around worn out, but with perfect sidewalls?
As for the Thundercar Association, that does make sence. From all the stupid stuff I am hearing here from Barrie and Sunset, geeze. To deal with crappy promoters would make sence. Fortunatly Derek of Kawartha and Brian of Mosport, have both been great this year. Brian in particual has brough in more cash to the class, and is putting in an honest effort to get the numbers. Unfortuatly, with the car count he hasn't been rewarded. Get together, Say Barrie pulls some crap, all don't show up to get it settled. Come run Mosport, cash in on the larger purse, and get your home track to listen...
