hmmmm yep it is true.. was told to us at the drivers meeting tonight that Wes Good who owned the track from 1975 to 1980 will be taking over.
Anybody have any info on what kinna operation he runs, how he is to get along with, how he treats drivers, if he has cash to move forward in a good way? Is this a good thing?
Who won last night at Sunset in the LLM.
From what i can remember ,it may not be 100% accurate,i think he actually leased the track from the shakells and during that time increased the car counts immensely and fan base more than trippled.After the lease came due ,for some reason it wasnt renewed.Feel free to correct me if i missed something or got something wrong,wife says i have a terrible memory.
The only thing that stands out in my mind about Wes is when he had an invitational and not many fans showed up so he decided to have a meeting before the first heat and told the drivers he was cutting the payout in half. This pissed off alot of them including my favourite Don Beiderman so about 5 Late Model drivers loaded up and headed to Barrie for the night. We followed them up their and it turned out to be a awesome night!. I just hope he's in it for the long haul and not in it to to try and make a fast buck. Alot has changed since he ran the track way back than. First thing he should do is repave the track so the racing has more than 1 groove. If he does this it would become a major improvement and probably draw alot of side by side racing and Limited Late Model and Thunder Car car counts. Better racing=more cars=more fans=more profit!!!.
P.S. I know it was the first night last night, but after a caution, lining up the cars have to be alot quicker.
P.P.S. Get the little children out of the infield pits, my 4 year old wanted to know why she couldn't go down their and play with them!!! Watching them sitting on the roof of the family car and hanging out the windows and yelling and screaming is not good.
