the weekend that we were supposed to run friday and they so smartly let bsw sit in the dark on a saturday night . sunset was packed with barrie cars, why was mr.campbell walking around sunset speedway instead of running his own that night? i truly love barrie and anyone who knows me will attest to my dedication through years of fly by night meathead owners/promoters. i will go back some day and look forward to it but not until these guys realize that we are not dumb hicks and they sincerely start to CARE about us low life drivers. whoever is sending the posts to jim payetta, send this one too! we are not pieces of shit and when you realize that i GUARANTEE you your bottom line WILL improve!!

OT but I seem to recall the original 1/4 mile track and the 1/3rd mile track that replaced it had way more banking then the track has now. Three wide racing was the norm. Or was I smaller then 😉

It did look like it had more banking back in the day but i have been told by several people who should know that it is close to the same . I know someone that has blue prints of the current track at Sunset so it will be interesting to see what its next configuration looks like .

I have heard there will be a wall all around the inside next year .

That may be....memories are funny things. I do know however that when the Shakell's built the place one of the goals was to compete against Barrie by having side by side racing. My Aunt once told me that the reason Sunset was popular was because the banking promoted three wide racing (she was talking about the 1970 to 1980 track) I do know the 1/4 mile track was FAST FAST FAST. Why they ended up changing it I can't remember. My Uncle would clock record runs around the 1/4 mle all the time.

The block are being delivered this week to build the retaing wall for the new pit grandstands, once that is in place, then the ball rolls like clockwork! Give it about 2 more weeks before you see severe action, they are just getting ready to rock now.
