The owners of Sunset may have made a bad call, but who would have hauled cars from a long distance only to find out it was cancelled? With the price of fuel these days would be costly.  At least the owners put their money where it is suppose to be improving the track.  Not like some owners who is only in it to line their pockets and do not care about who they step on and send out of their tracks to where people are honest and fair.  I for one, look forward LORD willing to seeing the major improvements that are coming.  I say "WELL DONE TO THE OWNERS AND MANAGEMENT OF SUNSET.   Thank you for a great season and better ones coming.

Unfortunatly, on Saturday due to the website being down (nobodys fault) there were several cars that I saw going to the track.

That being said, Junior called it.  They made a mistake, it happens, and lets be honest I the realm of owner-speedway crimes of the last 20 years, this doesn't even make the top 1000

eyeball, not to stir up shit but here it goes. i don't remember too much bashing as you said in your post. i for one try as hard as possible to make a positive relationship with both tracks and have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years, especially the invi's at sunset. you have the nerve to call me, and i quote "Polish NOT Prince" need i say more? ??? our little grudge matches with herbie and so on, we need more of that fun stuff and it brings the drivers, fans and tracks together. IMO!

Here here!

And I recall something Dave Simpson was saying one time about the asphalt at Barrie being some kind of "Nascar mandated" special graphite asphalt or something... Very expensive. I think I recall the improvements and widening at Barrie was about $4M, but you'd have to ask Dilley about that, I think he was involved then...
Still $500K spent well is a considerable improvement. And to be honest I have no issues with the current configuration of Sunset... It's the surface I have issue with. It kills tires.

repave the existing track and fill in the pits and pave them.......good enough! the pits need the work most in my opinion. you have to be a mountain goat to go watch the races. bbbaaaahhhhhhhhh 😀

I'm under the impression that part (or parts) of the ownership group is some form of construction company with either the equipment and people, or at least access to those, necessary to do the track upgrades.  That dramatically changes the cost base to make these changes....think of it as getting it done at "wholesale" cost rather than "retail".  Again, this is just what I've been told, you're welcome to correct me.

OT but I seem to recall the original 1/4 mile track and the 1/3rd mile track that replaced it had way more banking then the track has now. Three wide racing was the norm. Or was I smaller then 😉
