SUNSET SPEEDWAY OPENING NIGHT 2012

Innisfil, ON,  Saturday May 5, 2012:  Innisfil, Ontario’s Sunset Speedway kicked off their 2012 season on Saturday with Orangeville’s Kevin Cornelius heading to victory lane in the Limited Late Model division.

“[The track] tightened up a bit in the feature” explained Cornelius in victory lane, “we were better on the bottom in the feature than we were in the heat races.”

Cornelius, the 2011 division champion, was followed to the stripe by 28-time champion Stompin’ Tom Walters of Bradford and 2011 Velocity 250 winner Sean Cronan of Barrie.

In Super Stock action, former champion Herb Walters punctuated his return to fulltime competition with an opening night feature victory, with Baden’s Nick Roth and Guelph’s Matt Bentley completing the top-3.

The Mini Stock division opened the show, with visitor Gary Jones of Burlington capturing the victory, followed by Holland Landing’s Warren Paxton and Rob Krystal.
