Why must Sauble Speedway built motors add 50lbs????
Roller Rockers and 2.02 valves, all other LLM run stamped steel crappy rockers and 1.94 valves
Sunset, Peterborough, Kawartha (Option 2/3) LLM are allowed to run Roller Rockers - without penalty, so I doubt that's the reason, which leaves the 2.02 / 1.60 valves as the reason, which shouldn't be a big deal and cost 50 lbs.
All it now says in the Sunset rules regarding rocker arms is that they MUST be stock ratio (G.M. 1.5, Ford 1.6, Mopar 1.6).
Peterborough's rules spell out that Roller Rocker Arms are allowed, as does Kawartha's - with no weight penalty.
Barrie Speedway, Engine rule # 10) Rockers must be stock for the engine used.
I'd suggest anyone running (from Sauble) contact Steve Slaughter for clarification.
Why must Sauble Speedway built motors add 50lbs????
Maybe because Varney guys spend Sprint Cup style budgets on motors 🙂 🙂 🙂
This reply makes me go HUH???????????
can you exlain?

They allowed me to run them - mind you, I have neglected to stipulate the 25 lb weight penalty (my apologies).
As for Sunset - I would lean to saying 'okay, I'll use the "stock" ratio (GM 1.5) - but there's nothing that says it can't be roller 🙂 , GM offered factory roller variants on several versions of its SBC family @ 1.5. in fact, if memory serves the last year of the 5.7 based Fuel injected Z-28 "SS" Camaro, and a Silverado (1500 series) ZR-X pick up from '98 - 2002 I think had them. - which is why I also suggested you call Mr. Slaughter for the answer...of "stock"

I don believe in there it says you cant use a vortec engine which is what those engines would be(unless u r using the crate engine). Built engines are not allowed to run vortec engines thus not being allowed to run roller rockers cause it says must be stock to which engine is being used.
Hey Wesley not sure where you found LLM rules for Kawartha, last time I checked they don't have a LLM class. Although they do have an option in there ACT LM class for there former LLM competitors to run their LLM cars and engines with some upgrades so they can try to compete with the higher class. I run a LLM at Sunset and roller rockers, stud girdles, 2.02 valves, and MSD ignition are not allowed at Sunset or Barrie Speedways. The promotors at Sunset are just trying level the playing field. This way the cars from the tracks that have swayed away from the LLM rule package that was formed a few years ago won't have a huge advantage. So LLM cars from Pete, Mosport, Barrie, Varney, Sauble, and Sunset should all be on equal ground.
Sauble LLM rules state that crate motor cars are 2850 lbs, built motors 9.5 to 1 are 2925 lbs, and built motors 9.6-10.1 are 2975 lbs. It also states that a car that uses a built motor with headers must weigh 50 lbs more on the total overall weight. With the additional 50 lbs at Sunset the Sauble 9.5 to 1 built motor car with headers must weigh 3025 lbs.
