let builts run vortec heads, the 602 intake and the same camshaft! problem solved!!! no more crate controversy!

That only solves 1/2 the problem, you still need to tech stuff.

Just do what the 47 did and have everybody offer their cars or motors up for sale each and every night sort of like a claimer.

So can I buy the motor for what it costs to buy a new one right from GM?

Because a car is for sale, it means it must be 100% legal? :s

I'm pretty sure thats what the 47 said plus what ever extra parts you dont get when you buy a new crate. As for a car being for sale anytime and being 100% legal,i guess you'll have to buy one and find out.

Mike Bentley won at Flamboro and Barrie and is a top runner for sure, but as indicated he is on a roll and right now one of the cars to beat, especially at Sunset.  The top 3 are obvious, and all have basically the same stuff, not very much different.  

I don't think any of them are cheating, I think they have an advantage. It seems to me that we miss the real issue when we imply that someone is cheating because they are much faster than most everyone else.  Aside from the 17, 51 and 47, the rest are fighting for 4th place.  Seems not fair but the rules are such that these teams have advanced to a level higher than the rest, not necessarily the driver.  Tom has been one of the best for decades, but he has always maintained a top car, a step above the rest of the field, and when you have the right car, it makes it easy to beat 95% of the cars. The more teams with good cars, the closer the action and talented drivers rise to the top.

The answer is 2013, what the rules will look like.  Over the next few months we can all think of ways (including the top three) to bring parity and increase car count, or at the least maintain what we have.
I think:
1) no modified Crates (upgrades are ok for pan, balancer and timing chain) so that would mean stock rocker arms, stock springs etc, but if the engine cannot be opened then no one could change the springs or rockers.
2) 6400 chip
3) no bump stops
4) tech for advancing cam

I run a 6400 chip and hit it hard at times and still can't keep up. If I lower the gear I am beat coming off, if I raise the gear I'm on the chip. I decided last week to run with no chip and the valves were floating when I tried to go in deeper...not good for the engine.
Not many teams run the chip, but when they don't they take a chance of floating the valves, but I don't see the cars that are turning higher than me having trouble at the end of the straights.  

I just want a fair playing field. I know I need to work more on my set up and we're doing that, I also need to be smart with tire inventory, there are things teams can do to save their tires and not wear them out so fast. I'm learning that as well.  With more time and trying things, I'm sure our team can get closer.  It would be great to see someone start on the pole and win, that's what happens when the class is close in parity.  

Perhaps handicapping needs to have the top cars starting 14th, not 8th.  Mike says he is closing in on the points lead and I'm sure he is, and running for a Championship is exciting, it was our goal at the beginning.  But if I'm in the top 3 in points I should be starting near the back, not in the middle.  That only makes it easier for top runners to get to the front.  The race is long enough for cars to start 18th and win.

Regardless of how this year turns out for us, we are coming back. I love the track, the staff and competitors.  I just want to see more teams having a chance to take a podium finish.

All i have to say latemodel 28 is ,if your waxing[ emphasis on the waxing part] the field of cars that sunset has on the track every sat. night than maybe its time the track tears your car down like they did to the 47 on sat. night past. Did also hear the 47 offered that anyone anytime could buy the motor or car or both, everything is for sale during the drivers meeting. Seems to me he couldnt be more up front than if you want it, come get it,just bring the green stuff. Also heard that theres no way your the best driver sunset has to offer,heard the 17 cornelious said he just doesnt  have a good car the car has a great driver during the drivers meeting. Dont think you will be waxing him much once the handicaps get closer.

Lol this is hilarious, I have been close in handicaps for a several weeks now. Walters started almost right behind me last saturday and couldn't follow me through the field..he should be lapping the whole LLM feild as well the way he was "hooked" up last wednesday lmao. What a jole, he was running 15.1's on saturday, that's a far cry from 14.1 when I am only able to pick up 3 to 4 tenths from the conversion for the pro. He has yet to be in contention for a win on a regular saturday night, but rocks the field when the big money is up for grabs.

My car is also for sale at anytime just bring the green stuff haha..does this validate everything is legal lmao
