Who cares what it is or was. It's more money to the racers at two tracks and maybe more will follow and drivers can make a few extra bucks, which they deserve.

In the short run these huge pay outs may seem good, but in reality the long term affects will just put short track racing further in a dilemma. This will be a result of tracks spending more, and teams spending more to go for the high pot, resulting in decreased competition. The guys with money are just going to spend more, and the guys without money will either get out of the game or be labelled as "unskilled" or hazards on the race track. Big payouts are NOT the fix to the problems tracks have been facing. Better marketing/ rules hamronization/ working together with schedules/ and tighter tech sheds are whats needed. In any other buisness setting , two competitors fighting by jacking up their operating costs has never historically provided postive results.  These tracks need to invest in educated business/marketing/operations people. Sunset has done this with Wide Open, and has flourished this year from the benefits. If the other tracks want to keep up they need to stop being run like a circus soley by "gear heads"

There's my rant for the day.

I'm open criticism, and interested to see how many people agree or disagree. I'm in my first semester of automotive marketing so if anyone reading wants to hire on a co-op student or knows of possible leads shot me a PM 🙂
