First time I had been out to Sunset in about 3 years. The improvements to the facility are impressive and long overdue . Nice job by the current management. Now to the racing. first, using the term late models in the advertising is somewhat misleading. I had wondered if it was the actual late models class that would be running the 75 lapper or the LLM class which it turned out to be. Altho the count was disappointing, it was indicative of today's economy and the competitors who ran put on a very spirited show as described by other posters in the Barrie ? Speedway section on this forum. I have to point out tho that the 25 time champion Tom Walters still can't seem to pass anyone without pushing on them first, but it was exciting to see Morrow give him a taste of his own medicine. If the two hadn't reconnected , Morrow may just have taken the win. I thought the wonderkid Watson would be a factor as he seemed to be holding back , I presumed for a late charge but it didn't happen. TC feature was great with lots of good racing back in the pack. The 00 and 44 were a notch above last night. I must give a shout out to 14, Thayne, you have improved as a driver immensley since I last saw you run in the Mustang at BSW a few years ago. Congrats and you should be proud. So, to conclude, I had a great time, the racing was great, seeing some old friends in the pits afterwards was fun and I look forward to getting out again on a Sunday before the season ends.  🙂

Over the years i'm sure thats why they gave Tom Walters the nickname Stompin Tom. Heaven knows he cant sing. Although i do think hes mellowing out a bit the last few years.

I will never for the life of me, understand Waters! He has the ability to drive around almost anyone, anywhere he chooses, but rather chooses to smash into every car in his way. Not much of a Sportsman in my books.

Ah but without debating if he's a hero or villain everyone thinks one of the two he bring out emotions in everyone and has to be one of the most watched guys to either love or hate. Its what he sells.

Which at one time translated into butts in your stands. I'd think that would be easy to understand.  😉

Geeze  If it wasn't for guys like Walters that actually make it worth while going to the track every week,i think we'd all be pretty bored sitting at home watching the paint dry.

Thanks Skidder some know how to spell Walters name right.  He might drive hard and a little rough, but still has a heart of gold inside.

I don’t think that you are right on that point. The only time I had anything to say about Walters (and it was not on cro) was when he tried to get me to change the points around, and I wouldn’t.
That said I still feel that he can win by driving around other cars rather than through them. And as for seats in the stands, it didn’t hurt Sunset when he left in a huff before, and it didn’t hurt Barrie when he left there, seems as both tracks carried right on.
