I have only had the experience to hear a couple of track announcers in my time! A couple at Barrie including Glen Archer and Dave Bradley, I have heard Spencer and the guy at Varney sucked so he's out!!LOL......Spencer is a great announcer but so was Glen Archer. I would have to say that Dave Bradley is very good to but the tone of his voice is not as good as Spencer's but they both have the same talent. My favorite was the late great Glen Archer! Sorry Spencer, but your awesome too buddy!
He's got the car shut off, he can hear you, lets give a round of applause to Spencer Lewis!!
Well I already said what I thought after my excursion to Sunset. I'm sure everyone read it. I like Dave Bradley, but I like Spence too.
Spencer is a great crowd hyper, he gets people into the racing, he also has an amazing memory, and he is a credit to that facility. I enjoyed the racing at Sunset because of some of these reasons...
I like racing at Barrie, but I'll go down to Sunset for an Invi or on a night when we're not running. Spence is one of the reasons why. He also knows lots of people who are involved in racing, not just at Sunset, and he is interested in what's going on at other tracks...
All i have to say is "The Bob Barker Special"
And Spencer is like a race groupie. He is in the pits hours before the races start and hours after. Most nights he is the last person to leave. He even drives up from Scarberia to hang out on Sundays for no other reason than to talk shop when they did go karts. Previous announcers drove in minutes before race time, climbed the stairs to the ivory tower and slipped out to beat the traffic with the rest of the fans never even putting a face to the cars. Spencer knows your sponsors, you wife, your kids and I am sure other things that could come in handy if he ever wanted to blackmail you.
The only thing that I would like to see though is a better sound system for "The Spence Experience". A lot of the times his voice is drowned out during thunders or late models.
Actually you guys have a pretty good system. At Barrie it's very hard to hear the announcer if you are sitting in the pitside stands... I don't think they have as many speakers over on that side...
