Bravo Slammer.
However you are trying to be logical with those who aren't.
They don't care about anything other than themselves, and are looking to get revenge on the track because they didn't get their way.
You cannot reason with a 2 year old, when you have to take away their toy because its bedtime. Thats what we have here.
Any idea if any other 16 valves will be there?I was really hoping to see how my 8 valve stands against the 16 valve cars ???
Yah charger I have my own opinions on things as well but I have yet to see how getting po'd about it on here is going to help it any. So I am gonna take my own advice and shaddap' ;D
you shadding up was'nt what i had in mind if fact quite the oposite. you usually have somthing intellegent to say. albeit in a humorous way i actually look forward to seeing your posts.
ps i stopped drinking coffe at my computer because of you ;D
I agree with everything you said there Slammer but....
There seems to be an underlying thread to all this. People are looking for a connection here. It feels like there is a ghost owner. I have said it before and will say it again if he could stand up in front of people and say here I am tell me what you think, bounce ideas off me, let me help and you help me.
It feels like a back door thing where all this circus stuff happens and nobody steps up to take control. Then out of nowhere if somebody is heard to be talking bad or not doing what is expected of them they are given the boot. I have owned a business for years and I know you have to sometimes put a big target on your head and stand up in front of employees and customers and say here I am take your best shot. At some point people say well we don't need to cuz you talk to us and have a open door.. we are on the same page.
I would have to venture to say that maybe 50% of the track could not spot the new owner if there was a $100 on the line to do it.
In my business I have had a open door. I have talked to employees and said we are looking to cut some expenses around here but keep everybodys job. I will ask for ideas and tell them some of my own. After you will see people with less waste, showing up to work on time, treating customers a little better or upselling (hey talk like that to track staff and maybe kids in concession booth will be asking would you like fries with that and increasing sales).
The cure to all this would be accountability.. it has to happen. Just open up that door. Hand a business card out at drivers meeting and say here is my cell number, home number and email my door is always open.
Well said guys.
I would like to say that this doesn't always work in this type of business. Too a point yes but you know John at Flamboro has been there for years. Every driver that runs there knows that to run and complain to John goes on deaf ears. Why? because he will tell you to leave take the car somewhere else if you don't like it.
Just remember guys your NEVER gonna please all of the people (as an owner) Everyone has a different approach in business some work some don't. Glen was a people pleaser, while this might have pacified the drivers it did NOTHING for the business.
Steve Slaughter had it together but even them I heard many comments about how he did things. Even back to the Shakell's some liked them some didn't. I don't think anyone in ownership status will ever win a popularity contest. At least in all my years around the speedways I've never seen it. It's no different than that winning race car driver people either love him or hate him.
