Exactly bfe I'm not saying it couldn't work down the road but how many years has peterborough been doing this, it's a well known respected event.

It takes years to get there.  My point was I think the money needs to go into the speedway.  Not out the window, last year recorded by Glenn 25 people paid to go thru the main grandstands.  This hardly pays for the toilet paper in the bathrooms.

But to make it work, you have to start somewhere. You think that you can magicly go from 25 to AC numbers without running it for a few years....

This might be the year to do it. With all that rainout I'm sure there are many fans that still want to watch racing. The problem with late year events is everyone (fans) are tired of watching and have moved on to hockey?

Wes has done a good job this year in brining in Thundercars for inviational events. I don't see why he can't do the same with the other classes, and I don't see why there wouldn't be a good turnout of cars. Just a matter of marketing it to the fans...

Hand out a buy one get one free pass for the frosty on your last few nights. Might increase the numbers and although you have no paying fans there, its building for next year...

dirt tracks are adding to their schedules to make up dates because of bad weather...and i heard a rumour one pavement track may ad another special if weather stays warm in october like last year to make up for all the crap weather.

well this quote i took here is just plain ignorance IMHO sorry but i believe invitationals are for the drivers to go out and race against drivers from other tracks and just have an all around good time...peterborough started somewhere with autumn colours did they not?....I'm sure fans didn't want to endure the cold weather upon its inaugural night but soon enough more cars came and brought more fans....but hey you're an accountant...consider the number of cars each car brings on average anywhere from 3-5+ people 20 bucks a head...plus food plus there will be some die hard fans even if it is only "25" people that will come to watch but as each year goes and you "PROMOTE" the event all year more and more people will show up! but you know it is opinions like this that are killing this sport it really shows how much you care about the drivers when you're afraid to lose a little money in order for them to have a fun time....i remember in years past when there used to be tons of invitationals at all tracks including sunset and Barrie and it seems that they have gone the way of the dodo bird all because of people who have opinions like this since when has racing been about the money...hell i know pretty much forever that you never got paid enough to keep the car going all season it usually comes out of your pocket or the sponsors....and when a track official comes on here and states it would be a bad idea to have this invitational because the track owner will lose money.....HELLO? where have you been in the last 10 years or so...car counts are dying and weather seems to kill off a lot of nights...track owners have been losing money for about 10 years or so...if you buy a speedway and expect to be rich or well off you're out of your mind and if i was in those shoes i wouldn't expect that either this place is a part of history and i would be all about the drivers which as of recent years seems to be a lost cause...now its all about the money it seems....but hey lets say screw giving our drivers a fun invitational at their home track lets make them travel to invitationals just so we can save money...sorry but IMO that is on horrible and despicable outlook on this

Cheers

Mike
