Mike, I think there is an issue with the purse. With 25 fans you can't pay it. If you expect the track to put on a show for "fun" for a loss, then drivers should also be willing to be there for the "fun".

As i've said before, base the purse for the event on the croud, as a percentage. If the drivers would go for that, I don't see why we can't all have a fun event, without anyone takeing a real hit on it..

Just an aside. Peterborough does run AC. 2 years ago they tried a winter endro. They promoted it on the radio, so much so that you could call in to win free tickets. In the end, about 5 fans showed up. JP held a drivers meeting, explaining that it was at a huge loss for the speedway, and he could not pay the purse. The drivers all agreed to race for free admision to one endro event in the summer. Peterborough has not run that event since. So in fairness to Sunset, they are not the only track around that cancels things for finacial reasons...

Another reason to hold the Frosty = Nobody this year , racers and fans included haven't had enough of racing due to the bad weather all summer . We need more racing !  ;D ;D

Your are entitled to your opinion Mike.

You are right racing in Ontario has taken a kicking in the financial department.  It is a trend and if you've been paying attention were about due to start climbing out of that trend and heading back to 10 years ago.  Sure the Frosty is a good idea, I'm not disputing that.  What my point is, is it's not appropriate this year.  Wes just purchased the speedway this year, no doubt it's been a total financial strain and adding the frosty to the schedule would only make matters worse not better!!  I'm not sure why you can't see that.
I know that in the past the mortgage was made payable during the operating months.  Maybe this is a factor.  And if you think Wes bought this place not to make money, your joking right???? I've never met a business man yet, that bought a business to do nothing but please his patrons and loose money each week?????

This is just my opinion.
And for the record I'm not bad talking the drivers or Wes or implying he's broke, I'm mearly stating the obvious...

Very true, but I do see the point that Deb is making as far as financial loss. Althou, if we go based upon Ross Evans' words in doin the payout based upon the amount of people that show up, that could work. And the point about AC also is a good point, in regards to building it up. Last year, yah you got 25 in the stands, but due to what it was like last year and everybody talkin' up about it due to the weather, you'll probably get more. And so maybe only 25 people paid general admission, but how many paid pit admission? All in all, there are some good points that have been made and I applaud you all as they've definately brought some things out 🙂
