Being a fan I think I know a fair bit about racing, however I am confused on one point so if someone could help me out I'd appreciate it. Why are they allowing lapped cars to be left in the middle or even worse the front of the lead pack on restarts? Shouldn't they be at the back instead of getting being left at the front to get in the fast guys way? They did it again last night in the LM feature leaving the #24 in the "second place" slot getting in the way of the #45 making a run on the leader #03 and the #5 in the way of the #43 and #47.
Thanks all
Some race tracks have a different set of rules where they restart the race exactly how it was when the caution flew. If the leader passed that car and put him in between him and second place then that car stays there. I personally like waiving them around to the back, because it creates less havoc and is easier for the fans to follow, but i know of ppl who love it the other way.
one of the reasons we leave them is the feeling that the leader had to get around him why should second on back get a free pass?
On that point it still doesn't make sense. The leader got by under green at full speed. Everyone knows how slow cars on the restart can back up a full pack. Especially when the fasted cars are all at the front, which as a fan you want to see.
most local tracks start the slow cars to the front at the start of a race, by your logic we should let the fastest start on pole for everyrace. any driver wirth his salt can get around the moving pilon once again the leader had to why should second get a free pass?
