Cant remember having enjoyed a night of racing as much as i did sat. night. Right from the get go,the 4 cyl feature was awsome with so many guys passing each other,it was incredible. The thunder car feature was equally exciting as Paul Maltese did everything he could to hold off the fast charging sunset newcomer Brad Holden.A few more laps and Holden just might have snuck by him. Holden looked fast all night as did Flyin Frank Davies , Mark Adams and herbivore Herb Walters.Thunder rookie Kenny Britt also looked as though hes getting used to his new ride. Late model 75 lapper was the topping of the night. With sunsets Rob Poole top qualifier , sauble speedways super fast Jason Parker , capitol citys David Waite and Barrie regulars Al Inglis,Rob Inglis,Gordie Shepherd and Barrie Speedway champ Kieth McCloud in the lineup, it certainly looked like a tough night of racing for the rest of the sunset regulars.Chris Morrow,Jason Witty,Quick Vic Parsons,Tony Tierisma ,Stompin Tom Walters, the hulkster Bruce Rankin as well as all the rest of the sunset speedway regulars would be in for one heck of a competetive night. Very few cautions made for a night to remember. Best driving of the night had to be Al Inglis who was leading for a big portion of the race with Walters continually knocking on his rear door[bumper]. Al did a heck of a job holding onto his car as Walters continued to get under his rear bumper and push him the length of the staight away lap after lap. Finally Walters was able to get around Inglis courtesy of a lapped car. With Inglis going slightly higher than need be to go around the lapped car,Walters must have sensed that this could be his only opportunity to get by Inglis So a slight nudge and Walters was through between Inglis and the lapped car.Tony Tierisma also got by Al and closed right close to Walters but in the end couldn't get close enough to get by.Was by far the most excitement we've had a race track in a long time.We need more invitationals. Keep up the good work sunset.
Absolutely agree Tower if this was any indication of what the rest of the Invitationals are going to be like SUNSET IS DEFINATELY GOING TO BE THE PLACE TO BE!
Great car counts in all divisions too.
I agree with the remarks said as I had a great night and that 75 lapper was definately entertaining - espically with Inglis & Walters battling for the lead. Plus add in the battle for the lead in the Thunder Cars and the fact it was competitive throughout the whole field - I'd call that a good night of racing! 🙂
I have to agree, with Saturday night being a great exciting night of racing. It has been a long time coming, and now it has happened. The 75 lapper was a great and exciting race. It was nice to see so many cars from other tracks come and show their stuff. Every night this year has been exciting, even the racefans were right into it. Every week that I go there, I see a lot of new work done to the speedway. The last time I saw it that good was when the Slaughters owned it. Glenn Lloyd did a lot of work to it also. But it costs money to do the work and Glenn did his best with what he had. The track has improved nicely ever since it opened with a few exceptions. Great work people keep it up on the " Sunset International Speedway". Thanks to Mark and his people for making the improvement and more greater ones to come.
