Kman what late model driver anywhere can beat Barrie cars???????????
Any of the top Late Model drivers from any of the major race tracks in Ontario are competitive with one another. You really can't compare wallet size to ability. Put all the drivers in a "spec" car to get an accurate measure of driver ability.
Trivia Jack Cook won 3 championships in 1 year.
Very good Sue . He was the only Canadian driver to ever do that.
I didn't know that about Factory Jack. He was a certainly a strong runner in his day. When did he do this and what tracks were involved? My guess is 1965 CNE, Wasaga Beach and somewhere else.
He won the championship all 3 years they ran late models at the CNE and he won the championships at Wasaga Beach and South Shore Speedway (Sutton ) and I think he did it twice in 64 and 65 or maybe it was 65 and 66 .
As long as I have your attention here statman Earl Ross had Gord McKeegan as a mechanic but wasn't there also a Stan McKeegan as well ?

I'm not sure exactly when Earl got hooked up with the McKichan brothers but it was as early as the purple and black-roofed #13 Chevelle he ran for them in 1970-71. I dimly remember a 1964-65 Chevelle with the #13 on it from 1968 or 1969. Gord went south with Ross to NASCAR and stayed working for Junior Johnson long after Carling's departure brought Earl home. You are correct that there was a brother Stan involved and I think that another brother Ken also worked on the car and he also drove in LMs/LLMs at Delaware.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have just listed two drivers who won't be back to Barrie (Gaunt and Watson), and a third where it is unclear (Walters). Take those three out of the picture, and it is pretty even.
