Changing the rules now, would just be a reason for the rest of the crowd to whine, just check the LLM class, and that was a small change, changing engine rules will be quite costly. 2 years ago a meeting was held and everyone (majority) was happy with the ruling.
As for the invitationals there should be more leeway to make Sunset cars more competitive or changes to allow them to be. I don't dispute it might be time to update to engines that are cheaper and easier to acquire, but 3 years ago good ZC's could be had for $300-400 all day long. That was when everyone was crying because the Civics were cleaning up, but more then half the field was Civics.
This is by far the most difficult class to police, because so many factory cars are so far apart performance wise. They should implement a power to weight rule.
