Why are we so concerned about Qa1 shocks and 9' fords with drum set ups??cause that's what some of the Barrie cars have,so sunset wants to make those cars legal to run there, that's great!!Now,what about cars, say from Varney, what happens if they want to switch tracks,or Flamboro, the list goes on!!The new track next year,is going to bring out alot more racers then a few cars from BSW.If Barrie speedway allowed some retarded rule allowing drum brake 9',why and how should that effect what Sunset decides on???Barrie speedway has always had odd rules compared to other tracks, hence the 7 inch ride height,So,i don't think other tracks should be concerned about accomadating a few of there drivers,if they want to race at sunset, these are the rules and these are the changes we are making.
The way it is now,a car legal for sunset is illlegal at Barrie. So,the rule makers for sunset, please just worry about your own track, make your rule changes and if they want to come and run, they will.
the car counts at sunset are going to be huge,be nice to see Delaware street stocks showing up,like they did at kawartha years back,i remember Jason Hathaway and others showing up,makes for great racing!!! 😛 😛 😛
Okay so Larry is on ignore. You think I have issues? You called me a dick for no better reason than I disagree with you.
Jim I like what we have. That's all I'm saying. I don't think we need all this stuff. The 9" with drums has very little rear brake anyhow, it would change the car quite a bit to go with rear disc, and then you gotta get it to work. Some weight is going to have to be applied.
The three speed or four speed? Which ever way you go it's going to be in the area of at least $1000 to do it. If you want to go with a racing automatic like a TCI, then ya, that's like $1100 US. I cannot see why we need it, but, whatever, everyones in the mood to throw money around.
The cars are pretty advanced now. So do we sacrifice the class for the sake of the participants or decide it has reached the peak and change nothing. I get it that you been in this thing for a long time Jim. I'd like to see the class stay where it is.
I'm still your friend Jim no matter your opinion. I like Pepsi, maybe you like Coke... Whatever 🙂
And yeah the homebuilt 9" were the ones spitting the axles, along with the 7.5's.
Those homebuilt 9" are a menace. People should spend the $$$ and get the right stuff. (yeah I know, the answer is going to be: we did it this way because we can't afford the good one). Interesting... ;D
Tex, wow buddy. This year Sunset allowed the 9" drum, load bolts and the 4412 for the first time. Did I go out and spend the money? NO I did not, we left the car the way it was and had a solid year. If they allow all these changes for next year, do you think I am going to go out and spend $6000 on upgrades? I think not ! But I will make some upgrades over time, and the car will need them anyway. Hell I wish it was like the old days knock the windows out and go, unfortunately its not. Sorry I did spend $800 on the 4412.
This is what I'm getting at Scott. Guys like you and me racing on a budget. We don't need this stuff. $1000 for a four speed, $2000 for a floater with discs, $400 for cam, blah blah blah...
You've got a decent car, but like you say, there's stuff you don't have... Do we need to add things to the "to do" list?
Between the tire and rim bill and fuel, and fixing the car when it gets wrecked... Do you want to add a few thousand more? I don't. If I'm spending more than 10% of what I make in a year on "upgrades", that's not making me happy. I have a life outside of racing, I like to do other things too...
