GROSMAN RETURNS, RE-ARMS FOR 2012 SUNSET SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Florida-based Veteran Hoping that Third Season is the Charm

BARRIE, ON – (February 15th, 2012) Undeterred in the wake of a frustrating 2011 season at Sunset Speedway, Miami’s Sean Grosman has decided to retool instead of retreat, and take another run at the Limited Late Model Championship Series title.

After taking a checkered flag in his rookie Limited Late Model  2010 campaign, Grosman faltered slightly in 2011, running well enough to maintain his confidence, but unlucky enough to keep him from having a feature victory.

“It was a tough season last year luck wise,” recalled Grosman.

“We had numerous heat wins, but never could back those up in the features. We came close and ran well, but just couldn’t catch the breaks you need to catch to win a race.”

To ensure 2012 bears little resemblance to 2011, Grosman will be a car owner this year, buckling into a brand new McColl limited late model powered by engine builder John Stefko.

“I really want to thank Mike McColl, Tom Walters, and Stefko Racing Engines for their help in getting this car together, and we’re expecting great things out of it,” Grosman said of his revamped number twenty-nine SMG Motor Sports, Flagship Properties, Rylex Glass and Mirror, Landing Strip, and For Your Eyes Only ride.

“Mike McColl’s, and John Stefko’s involvement this season will bring a whole new level to our racing program. John and Mike both represent the top people in their respective fields. With the hours these guys have poured into this, we definitely have more than enough car. It’s just up to me to make sure all the behind-the-scenes efforts pay off come race day.”

While Grosman will be driving his own car in 2012, he’ll still be under the care of Stompin’ Tom Motor Sports.

“Tom Walters and I will be teammates this year again.  Yes it’s my car, but we will be running out of one shop. Tom will be handling the weekly and race day maintenance of the car,” Grosman said of his cohort.

“He’s one of the best in the business, and his experience the last 2 years has been invaluable.”

Even though most racers expect some growing pains when it comes to getting accustomed to a brand new car, family plans have left Grosman in desperate need of a fast start in 2012.

“I’ll be traveling overseas in June, and will be missing all four races that month, which means I need to start this season really well, and bank some points before my family trip.”

“There’s no time for excuses. I need results right away, or I’ll be behind the 8-ball before I blink.”

The Miami, Florida-based Grosman may spend a lot of time away from home to lay rubber at Sunset Speedway, but he makes sure that his sons Kyle, Jessie, and Tyler, and beautiful wife Candace, are a vital part of his team.

“My kids and wife are so excited to come back to Sunset this year. Not only is the racing great, but the facility is top notch. And the staff does such a great job of making my family feel like they have a home away from home,” said Grosman, who flies up from the Sunshine State for every race.

“Besides, the boys are an important part of my race team. My oldest (14 year-old Tyler) got his feet wet last season working with the crew, and learning setup tips. This year he’s going to really get his hands dirty.”
