Bentley Continues Mid-Summer Hot Streak With Win Number 3

Innisfil, ON - Monday July 16, 2012:  Guelph, ON’s Mike Bentley picked up his third victory of the 2012 campaign on July 14th, continuing his climb back into title contention after a disastrous early season.

Bentley would take control of the lead at lap-13, after early leader Keith Maiato was forced to bow out of competition with mechanical problems. From there, the former Gary Reynolds Memorial winner would shake off a brief challenge from defending track champion Kevin Cornelius to secure the victory.

“We made a couple of changes and adjustments before the heats that didn’t really work” explained Bentley in victory lane. “So we changed it back, and it was a rocket for the feature!”

The win would come on the heels of a solid runner-up performance in July 11th’s MRE Pro Series event.

“Can’t thank my crew enough, we had to switch a lot for [Wednesday’s] Pro Late Model race, and then change it back for tonight”

“I think we’ll be right there in contention for the points championship, the heat races are so important, Kevin [Cornelius] beat me twice tonight in the heat races tonight, that’s more points for him, so I need to stay close” continued the second-generation star.

Bentley would end his time in victory lane with a familiar proposal, “We’re always looking for sponsors, it’s a shame we don’t have any yet but anyone interested can email me at mike-bentley@hotmail.com”

In Super Stock competition, Cambridge, ON’s Randy Rusnell captured his third feature victory in seven days, leap-frogging from 5th to 3rd in the championship point standings as a result.

Pro Late Model veteran Steve Laking won the Mini Stock feature, in a guest appearance filling in for Spira Racing teammate Billy Schwartzenburg.
