That is a photo of the car when it was the pace car at Sunset in 1971. Glen Shakell is in the driver's seat, Bob Brooks is the passenger. I believe Bob was the track promoter and drove the car to various local events during the year. Nate Salter is in the first window in the tower on the left. He was the handicapper and scorer.
The car was repainted in Labatt's 50 gold (over top of the Limelight) for the 1972 season.
I would like to find some more photos of the 1971 Superbird Pace car so I can re create the original lettering and images. In particular, I can see some kind of image on the hood, but I need another angle to determine what it is. Or if anyone who saw the car back in 1971 can recall what was on the hood. (It might be the Sunset Speedway's logo?)
realwing! we don't have any more pics of the car. All the sunset pics were given to my dad and most of them are in the slideshow i put up on youtube
