......and as far as saying he might have hurst somebody.
You cant get hurt in NASCAR anymore, soft walls, HANS, 50,000.00 race seats....
That is the reason they wreck each other now adays..........nothing to be affraid of.
And to make it worse...everyone thinks they need all that heavy duty crap at the local level...takes the danger element right out of it.
You're right Charlie, some of them die instead!!!
And as far as having "all that heavy duty crap at the local level" for sure if I can have it then I will. Not sure if you have kids or a mortgage Charlie but those of us that do need to be able to go to work on Monday and support our families.
I don't race because of the "danger" I race because it's fun and exciting. Now give your head a shake.
Besides if I want "danger" I will tell my wife she looks fat! And that could turn out to be more expensive then racing....... ::)Well said BFC Racing. That has to be one of the dumbest things ever written on here Charlie.
Alot of guys dont have a containment seats, hans device.for the local track...simply based on the price of them ...should we have them...likely...i dont agree with saying you cant get hurt in a race car....there have been guys killed at local tracks and all sizes of race tracks at the nascar level as well..... iam not afraid in the car, but i consider the risk, i know something could happen...the #07 ministock driver got lucky at fall colours...iam sure his seat was mounted correctly and iam sure his belts were good..he still got a cut and a bad headache...... if they said you have to have atleast headrests on both sides of the seat, at least a neck collar not sure if they work but better then nothing. and for some reason we check dates on belts, yet we dont care really about the firesuit... it should be the biggest enforcement maybe right there with helmets... i guess we are good as long as the stays in his seat and gets roasted in his $150 single layer suit, that is 8 years old...not to mention we dont enforce gloves.....some guys dont wear them, they are crazy....if a fire started in the car you are going to have issues getting that steel seat belt latch, then drop they window net with a steel latch....
and to say ohh well the nascar guys did this 25 years ago with barely any safety gear....well hockey goalies never wore masks back in the day, but iam sure everyone would throw a mask on if they were gonna strap the pads on!! its should be better enforced and taken more serious when it comes to safety at any level!
I am not saying I want to die in a race car. I am saying people are lured to racing because it is risky....
The more of a risk, the more people are attracted to the people who do it.
I wont jump out of a plane, or race a motorcycle...that imo is danger.....that being said, those people who do that stuff, I hold high regard for. Same could be said for anyone who surfs big waves, with sharks underneith them....
Being bolted into a car with 3,000.00 lbs of steel protecting you imo is not that dangerous to start with, whats next?? Air bags in our race cars ::)
Take down the walls around the track and replace them with pillows, and id probly walk away from it all together.....no risk, no reward.
The great Ken Squire quoted something along the lines of ''brave young men, willing to risk it all for fame and glory, in this, the million and a half Daytona 500'' Look up some videos from the past.....when the grandstands were FULL. Anyone can get tickets for Daytona or Bristol 5 minutes before the race, simply by walking up and getting one....thats sad 🙁 ......and part of it is due to the lack dareing involved with this game anymore.
There is a reason 50,000 fans dont gather to watch a chess match...
But I really suppose I cant win this anyways, im a Gordon fan, so my hands are tied!
......onto Homestead.
........and thats part of the reason I like Peterborough ACC. I was almost in the wreck, and in the shoes of the 07, I got a thrill of feeling like a cheated disastor.....
Its a faster, tighter track, with ramp walls....it gets the blood pumping. And some guys dont go to it for that reason. But the stands are full.
