Thanks for giving input on NCATS Mark and it is good to hear it from someone that is involved.

You could run a part time schedule in the 70's and run well. Today, you have to be there every week, or you will fall behind.

SPEED is reporting today that Petty Enterprises is closing it's doors.  >:( There is a possibility that GEM will run a 43 car in 2009. If Richard Petty can't make a go of it in NASCAR (Thanx Brian France) then the NASCAR we knew and loved is gone, gone, gone. We are down to Hendrick, DEI (not really DEI anymore), Roush, GEM, Childress and the rest are also rans. Brian France, NASCAR and the economy have created franchise by elimination. Sad.

Maybe someone should share the secret of "start and park" with Petty LOL

Its funny when there is a thread saying how much money can be made racing, when in reality teams are shutting down.

My take would be that the King would not want to play the start and park game. Even though PE has not had success for quite a few years I don't think it was from lack of trying. Going to the track knowing they would only run a few laps would break Richards heart and make Lee roll over in his grave IMHO. I am sure that Richard will be involved in NASCAR still but he is also a business man and probably didn't want to bankrupt his family and his partners were not willing to pay up anymore.
