Okay...I was real silent for a while because everything I told you guys a month ago was deemed as B.S. from a select few....Here's Mud. not poop, in your face !!
As I said then and will say again, if Petty does not find a partner they are done...100% done.
What I told you guys a month ago was true to fact and is only going to get much worse before it even thinks about getting better.
Okay...I have been holding back on this one but I think you all deserve something to kick the can at for a couple of weeks..so here it goes...gospel truth, from inside information.
Nascar is quickly changing it's format North of the border meaning Canada.
Although they have at least 8 Teams that have agreed to run in 2009, and some of them 2 car teams, Nascar has been forced to announce a new starting car schedule count per event of no less then 14.
Saying that, Nascar is struggling to even come up with the 14 cars and Canadian Tire could easily walk on the contract leaving the series for good.
If this is to happen, and it is almost certain that Nascar has failed under litagation of their contract obligations, it will mark the end of a once sucsessful racing series, known to us as Cascar.
Turn to page 2.
Beat them up all you want, but the OSS, Ontario Sportsman Series, could become the biggest series in Canada overnight as they have purposally stayed within the guidelines of the rule book of the CTS program for this purpose. It's a low cost series to run, but the bigger picture is the CTS cars are welcome within the guid lines of the OSS Rule book- without making costly changes.
Furthermore, if Nascar does fail, and it is a fact that they have already released thier Canadian Management posistions as of two weeks ago, the OSS could resign the long time supporteres of the once big league Cascar Sereis.
It would be a welcome back for sponsors like Castrol, Snap On, Fast Eddies, Turbo Blue, Goodyear Belts and Hoses to name a few that were told their sponsorships were no longer welcome under the Nascar banner.
If you think I am wrong again....then so be it, but on race day it takes racers to make the show happen, not the money grabbing jaws of Nascar.
If you dont like what you read here, then mayby it's time for you to crawl under a rock and watch what the tide brings in.
This is Canada, not Daytona, and 100% not Mooresville, so until we have huge sponsorship budgets to play with, let's all get our feet back on the ground and come to grip with the fact that we dont need to grow our sport by giving everthing away to the likes of Nascar, instead we need to focus on how we can keep it alive with what we have in our own deck of cards.
KEEP YOUR ACE'S..... AND THROW BACK THE JOKER's !!!
The BAR has been raised race fans.....
thanks BAR and I was one that was finding ur info awesome...
this is terrible news for the Canadian short track teams as the national series seem on the verge of crumbling...the oss may get more cars but I think the real winner wld be the short tracks as many of these guys wld return to run Late models and be front runners.
The fact that NASCAR may be failing up here i think is mvre a sign of the economic times than NASCAR's fault...but thats jmo.
Thayne you are 100% right and I think we all agree that the economics of auto racing has become a back seat to the market and jobs that are more important, and on the fence.
I wish more people like you understood what the reaity of Stock Car Racing is being put, in competition with.
Yes , until the true economics of everyones lifstyle's return to a prosperious history, the true idenity to the survial of racing, in point, a series like Nascar, becomes a reality
I am a fan...and was a fan, long before I ever raced...and now, I am a bigger fan.
I am not sure where you get your info from but your comment about the 8 teams is news to me I have never been asked about 2009,as far as a car count contract that is also news to me I talk to all sides about alot if things and have never heard that in any meeting over the last two years will there be more that 14 cars yes is the racing world and the whole world in tough finacial times yes is there going to be give and take yes but to say that Nascar is going to go By By I think you might be a little ahead of yourself maybe you know more than I do but I do work on this 24 7, as for thet car count I am sure that they would ask me I talk to them daily as far as them letting go there management that is not true Richard had a good oppertunity to go and work in the field of sponsorship at Nascar Canada that is what his back ground is his job willhave a replacment in the near future so I do not think that anyone is jumping over to the OSS just yet not that I think it is a bad thing I think it is a great little southern Ont travelling series
All The Best

I would think BAR (midamerica) if you were going to come here with your doom & gloom "facts" that you would at least have the balls to say who you are and where you got your info. I believe what Mark posted that most of your facts are BS.
There may well be only 8 teams committed to NCATS at this time but that is no different than the situation at this time of year at any time. There are teams out there making deals and trying to make deals every day.
NCATS and every other racing series are going to have a tough time next year. Sprint Cup teams are in trouble. Today Honda withdrew from F1 and Audi from ALMS.
As Mark says, OSS is a nice little Ontario racing series. It is no way a replacement for NCATS.
Dream on, BAR.
