I find it interesting that Nascar is trying to counter sue Mayfield saying he didnt follow the rule book and that they want all their prize money back. Now of course this is because they say he was using an illegal drug, but the rule book is pretty big. So if they win couldnt this set a precident ? If a competitor was found to be running illegal parts and it was proven they did for a number of races, could they not sue to get all the awarded prize money back for that too? Just something I thought about when i was bored.
You got a point, but it'll be interesting to see what side wins. Mayfield had good reason for taking what he was taking - as he said in an article on NASCAR.com - so therefore it wasn't like he was taking it due to wanting an advantage nor just for some random reason as the drug policy is to prevent. Also, add in the fact that some have said the drug policy isn't clear in saying the drugs you can and cannot take, this could be in Mayfield's court.
I say all the drivers get together at the next race, and in the Drivers meeting they all fire up a joint.... If these guys dont stick together on this one and back Mayfield up a bit, they are just asking for one more money grab that Nascar will introduce.
Next weeks news... Nascar fines Kyle Busch for his Fender Slamming in Victory Lane.
Rummor's are that a fine of $500,000.00 is on the table and they are talking about raising that amount even more to teach him a lesson.
Its okay if Johnson and Gordon throw Power Aid off of thier cars in Victory Lane, but go an break one Guitar and the whole world slams the hell out you.
There lucky this wasnt Martinsville.... can you imagine all the splittered wood that would be flying out of a Grand Father Clock !!
Actually, Johnson & Gordon did get pennalized on that, at least Johnson did. Plus that was a small thing with just a Powerade bottle - we're talking about an actual trophy here and the sponsor of the race not being happy as they left VL early. Plus, since then NASCAR has said that they'd step up the fines.
..........though if it was one of those clocks - yikes!!!
it was actually a les paul gibon, plus i am pretty sure he owned the trophy when he crossed the finish line first. pretty boys gatorade smashing was for their sponsor. how france is handling mayfield dure stinks of the tim richmond deal. lastly the last time the drivers banded together they got sent home.
