I can careless what any of you have to say about Dale SR and I know a lot of older folks in racing will agree with me. Next to the Petty's he is NASCAR and helped it grow and people loved to hate him as he was a winner and 7 Winston Cup titles to prove it. he was the best of the best and what he did to see his son or long time friend/driver Michael Waltrip get a win and it cost him his life doing so. please don't compare him to his son all they share is the last name and they are family.
When SR drove that is how racing was it was like back in the days in hockey with the flyer's being the tough guys and fights were part of the game and made it much more enjoyable to watch then it is now and the same goes for NASCAR.
I hated SR but he made racing fun to watch and you loved to hate him as much as you loved to cheer your favorite driver. Different time and he wasn't the only one driving like that. He just stood his ground and everyone knew you messed with him you were going to get paid back that race.
Now with that being said.
JR hasn't established himself as that type of driver yet. So when this happened everyone jumps on the lets bash JR. Hell I bet none of your favorites got caught up in the wreck as I hear people bash Busch all the time and he would have been the best bet to win if this didn't happen.
It's racing and this happens and JR is not the first to do this nor will he be the last one to but dragging his dad into it come on.
Just my thoughts from a person that has been a race fan for about 30+ years.

Hell if Nascar was gonna give Sr a win, dont you think they would have gave him a Daytona win long before he actually won it!
Whatever, yeah JR did not take action to stop what was happening once he was put down but I'll tell you I am excited about him this year. The intensity in his voice in the post race interview with Dick Bergren tells me that THIS CAT IS BACK and the trophy case better be ready.
