Ernie's message sums it up. The tracks and NASCAR will do something. They might not be able to prevent it from happing and it may never happen again but it's better to be safe.
Way to go NASCAR & the tracks for the quick actions.
What would it be like if you could buy your way into the QB of the Patriots, or the Points Guard of the Lakers?? Might just make it a joke..
I wouldn't look to the world of stick and ball sports to prove the point you are trying to make. If those players wore a thousand product logos on their uni's the way the Nascar guys must it would be ever more obvious. Besides, the "whatever" Cup series has been as much about national scale marketing as anything for at least the last 20 years. Along with that comes things you might not care for, but to them it's "...so...?? And you are...?". You are but one opinion among many many millions and although there may be a number who share your view there are apparently far more who see things differently.
All I can suggest to you yetti is don't watch. I think we all know what NASCAR is and how it works without you pointing it out to us. If that makes us not true race fans in your eyes then so be it. I think I for one can live without your approval. Just saying. ::)
We might not like it but that is the way it is and has been for many years. As fans we have to accept it or just don't watch the sport. NASCAR is in the business to make money and we don't agree on everything they do but I sure would love to make the money they make.
[I'll take a Saturday night at the local track over any cup race, any day. My hero are guys around here who's skill and grit does the talking getting them where they are. Not Go Daddy and cultural targeted marketing.
Nice to take a break from all the smoke, mirrors and BS we have fed to us everyday. I like the separate my recreation from that, not sell it to the highest bidder for a buck.
I'm gonna do an about face and say amen. On this we agree.
