I believe that at the cup level all the driver are top notch and are capable of winning but it all boils down to the communication between driver and crew chief. At this point most drivers inform to what the car is doing, then the crew chief decides what adjustments need to made. If the driver relays poor data then we all know what the results are going to be.
I disagree. I think Jimmie will go down in history as one of the greatest ever. But because he's not flashy or terribly controversial, it won't be recognized for quite some time.
The greatest car with the greatest crew chief still needs the guy behind the wheel to make it happen. So I disagree that the 48 team would do well no matter who was driving.
The two of them work together extremely well (Knaus & Johnson), Chad is the best crew chief out there, but I don't think that every driver would work as well with him as Jimmy does. Chad IMO is a very strong personality that runs a very tight ship, and Jimmie understands his role under Chads leadership, and it works very well. Now if you were to put Kyle Busch with Chad Knaus for example, I think that there would be fireworks.
I guess you could say it was like Ray Evernham and Jeff Gordon winning years. Jeff would tell him what was wrong and a last place car would become a first place cars. Jeff also had a lot of luck back in those winning seasons. I remember how many times he missed wrecks.
I was really hoping that Mark Martin would win the championship. he has been second so many times and he is one of the best driver in Nascar
Now if you were to put Kyle Busch with Chad Knaus for example, I think that there would be fireworks!!!
If you put Kyle with anyone it's fireworks. Did you hear him crying when he knew he wasn't going to clinch in Phoenix. And why should Kenseth help him out?
you can bitch all you want....ask anyone..Kyle is one of the best at deciphering what the car is telling him and relaying information...
he can also flat out wheel, I just dont think the JGR cars are up to snuff this year like they were last year....but that will change this winter....
