From Inside Track News:
STATESVILLE, N.C. – Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced today that Mike Wallace will drive the No. 10 Dodge at Charlotte this weekend and A.J. Allmendinger will take over driving duties at Martinsville on Oct. 19 and for the remainder of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Wallace and Allmendinger replace Patrick Carpentier who drove the No. 10 in 24 races this season
that suxs big time hopefully someone will give him a decent ride but i doubt it to old
Hope they fail to make every race for the rest of the season. They really hung him out to dry. Why did they not wait 'til the end of the season? Maybe Ray should stop courtin' the youngins' and concentrate on his race team.
When are you all going to realize that just about- no one- gets a ride based on talent anymore. Ray gave Patrick a shot to prove himself, and I will guarantee that Ray was impressed with Patrick, but, it takes allot of money to make a race team, and if the driver doesn't have at least a Five Million dollar coming on board as well, he is out of work !!
Some of the very best talents in Racing will never see the inside of a Cup Car because of this issue, but that is the nature of the beast.
Maybe Patrick can put together a big enough sponsor that he can return to open wheel, but again, its the same deal there....no money...no ride !!
All of these deals where you see a Driver get a shot out of the blue is usually followed by the statement, Joe Blow will be in the #55 car for Seabass Racing along with Sponsorship for 4 races from Tarjet Stores. As soon as the 4 races are over- so is Joe Blow !!
The only other way around it is to buy your own Team and Sponsor, and race till you run out of money, but even that has an expiry date on the label.
B.A.R. I totally understand why Pat is out of the car at the end of the season but why replace him now, with drivers who I feel, have less of a chance to make the show? Both Allmendinger and especially Wallace will definately race better but they have to make the show first. Again, why take Pat out now?
