Southern Ontario Sprints Return to Brighton Saturday

After a weekend off, the Southern Ontario Sprints tour returns to action this Saturday night at the Brighton Speedway for the third event of the 2008 Season. Chris Jones of nearby Demorestville leads the points standings as the tour heads back to his home track, but Alton’s Keith Dempster trails by just 7 markers, and 3rd place point man Rick Wilson of Joyceville was the winner the last time the tour visited Brighton in May.
The season opener at Brighton on May 10 was a rough one for many drivers, including April Wilson who flipped hard in turns 1 and 2, and Glenn Styres of Ohsweken who was caught up in an incident with some lapped traffic while chasing April’s father Rick for the feature win. Styres currently sits 9th in the points and will be looking to improve that position in hopes of successfully defending his 2007 championship season. Lefroy’s Warren Mahoney narrowly missed winning the feature in Round 2 at Brockville, but his 2nd place finish at “The BOS” has him sitting 4th in SOS points, with Adam West of Ridgetown in 5th, just 1 point behind Warren.
Presented by Vanderlaan’s Building Supplies, Saturday’s SOS event will be accompanied by four of Brighton’s competitive weekly divisions – the Pro Stocks, Comp 4 division, Pure Stocks, and 6 Cylinder Stingers, as well as the SOS Dash for Cash presented by Rowley Electric. One lucky fan at Brighton will win a “Have Bus, Will Travel” (www.havebus.com) package for 2 to Ohsweken Speedway’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car events coming up in July, courtesy of the SOS and Have Bus Will Travel.
