The Hill-Townline Variety team from Ohsweken finished 10th and 11th on Friday and Saturday respectively at the WOO shows at Charlotte. This is the 77x normally piloted by Ryan Hunsinger locally. It was driven by Mustang Oklahoma's Wayne Johnson and Hunsinger crewed for the weekend. Johnson won the Cdn Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken back in late Sept in a Glenn Styres mount. Sounds like they obtained a strong 410 motor as Johnson came from near the back of the pack.
Unfortunately, the Speed coverage seems to overly concentrate on the win from the pole by Donny Schatz on Saturday. Styres was a dnq Friday & Saturday.
Thanks to Tommy Salami for the info
Also-kudos to Louis "the fossil" Carufel from Port Huron, Mi (a local Ohsweken runner) for making the shows.
Wayne Johnson is a very talented driver who I think is starting to get some of the recognition he is due, despite not being a regular on the WoO circuit...The 77x team combined with Wayne for the weekend and things worked out very well...with a bit of luck and a racier track, Wayne could likely have finished in the top 5 both nights...
quote from Ryan Hunsinger about the weekend: "(The 77x) is a great 360 car, but WAY heavier than those other WoO cars are, so all things considered, he did AWESOME! Being able to work with him is great - Its going to help us TONS for next year, so it was a win/win deal."
