First Ever Visit to Brockville for Southern Ontario Sprints This Saturday

This coming Saturday the Southern Ontario Sprints will cross a major item off their “to do” list when the tour visits the Brockville Ontario Speedway for the first time. Bringing the tour to the Eastern Ontario facility has been a goal of series officials and teams for quite some time.
May 31st has assuredly been circled on the calendar in the Wilson household ever since the SOS schedule was released in the winter, as “BOS” is one of the home tracks of current SOS points leader and all time feature win leader Rick Wilson, who calls nearby Joyceville home. Rick’s daughter April will be back in action as well after a wild flip during round #1 of SOS competition at the Brighton Speedway on May 10. Rick holds a unique place in the SOS record books as the only active driver who has won an inaugural SOS event at another speedway: Wilson won the first visit to the Merrittville Speedway by the SOS tour on August 18, 2001.
Extensive renovations at Brockville took place over the offseason, as the corners were widened by 60 feet, and are now progressively banked as well. Saturday’s SOS event will be the first for Sprint Cars on promoter Paul Kirkland’s newly reconfigured surface, and it is sure to be an interesting night as the drivers figure out the fast way around.
Make sure you’re on hand for the first ever Southern Ontario Sprints event at Brockville Ontario Speedway this Saturday, May 31st. A full schedule of heat races, Dash for Cash presented this week by Samure Construction, and 20 lap feature is on tap, along with a full card of Brockville’s 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, Street Stocks, and the Rookie class. Adult admission is $18, and the first green flag of the night drops at 7:00p.m.
