I think the 1 passed the 28 out of the last corner to win the midget race. It was cold for sure. Sauble was $18 at the back gate. What do they charge the guys at the pit gate at the other tracks? From what I've seen Jason is pretty good there. There was some good racing sun. but damn cold.
Back gate is $25 or $30 at Flamboro.
Back gate at Sauble is 15 bucks on a regular night, 18 for stuff like Can-Ams, and 20 for late model specials, ARCA trucks, big shows. Or at least, that's what it used to be. I don't get to Sauble very often anymore.
agree Steve that some asphalt promoters seem out of touch and that's why I've become a major dirt convert. Last night at Merrittville-28 BRP CanAm Late Models, 29 Sportsman, 28 Hoosier stocks, 23 4 cylinder and 15 mod lites (which seems to be the only class down in numbers as quite a few drivers have switched to sportsman after similar car expenses). The late models ran 4 heats and decided to let all 28 drivers start the feature. Good crowd for a cool night and $12 admission ($2.00 more than normal for the late models) Ran a little late - finished at 10:35 but not bad considering the number of heats and consis for the sportsmen and hoosier stocks.
It's of intrest to note, as we speak Merrittville is on the auction block for sale, Want to buy it .$850.000. got the guts or the money?
It all seems so easy , when all we do is pay our admission fee and sit in the stands . Owners are trying to do their best in a very tough time . People just don't spend like they use to and really can't afford it any other way . Ask any track owner what it costs them just to open the front gate and run a show . You may be very surprised at the expenses. Besides you were at the wrong track last night ! You should have been at Sunset where the best of two tracks were all out to run for $1000. Thunder feature and it was awesome ! The stands were packed , 29 cars started the feature and it was fun . If running a show 20 minutes late or even over a 3 hour window , maybe you should go to the theater instead . This is racing , anything can happen and it will .
