Never, ever, ever will I agree with this idea that "moving" someone is an acceptable tactic - it just isn't. What great talent does it take to drive into the car in front of you? If you're fast enough, pass the car in front of you, if you can't, tip your hat to him for driving a good race and accept a well earned second. Take Brian Mercer in the LM race for an example. It appeared he was faster than the 89 car, he tried to get by him cleanly , couldn't and so settled for a well run second place. You think he couldn't have run into the back of the 89? Of course he could have. You think he wanted to win any less than the 89? Of course not. But instead of simply "moving" the guy who had led the whole race he showed some respect and decided if he couldn't pass the 89 clean then he couldn't pass him period. If it's such an acceptable move why is the driver who's "moved" out of the lead always angry? Why does the driver who did the moving almost always say afterwards " I hate to win that way, but..." and then have a lame excuse why he was justified in doing it? Because they both know it's wrong.

Well said

Enough.... the Flagman and entire crew at Peterborough Speedway did an amazing job. Let's put challenges on the table.

26 Plus car fields.
Transponders are expensive.
Same goes for two way radios
Racecievers are available, but not all teams have them.
Fair scoring is a must for the racers and the fans.

Scoring and position of cars is based on the last lap PRIOR to the caution flag to realign the field. Kawartha, Flamboro, even Sunset has had its challenges running special events (look at how long it took to run their recent invitational)

Unless you want to mandate transponders, radios or raceievers, aligning the field is going to take some time. Car owners are not exactly flush with cash and neither are all speedway owners. Those that think cars several laps down shouldn't be given respect of where they are in the race, sorry to hear you don't believe in fairness. In my opinion the integrity of the sport demands that every car out there deserves equal consideration. Race Directors may not always get it right, but they have to try - even when mistakes happen.

The more cars the more challenging it is going to be. The Scoring in the tower sets the field, NOT the flagman. Let me give you an example that happened all weekend. The cars are required to have their car numbers placed on the FRONT of the car. Guess how many didn't... more than half of the field. Thus the flagman has to go farther out into the infield to pick out the cars that need to be reshuffled. That takes time because then it has to be relayed to the back straightaway flagman to make a space and tell the cars to realign.

I do agree with one suggestion. Caution laps should count (up to a maximum of say 20 for a 100 + lap feature or a figure of 10% of the total events laps, i.e. 7 or 8 laps for a 75 lap A-Main, etc.)

Another potential solution is ensuring the 3 strikes your out (for causing a caution) is enforced. I think it was at AC, though I think there could be some debate about that in the Pro-Late race.

So knock off throwing stones from glass houses at the Peterborough Officials - it's just plain wrong. I bet some of you whiners would be a disaster attempting it.

In Pro Challenge we have a 3 strike rule. We also have that no driver gets on the track without a radio. Raceciever or 2 way.

I'll tell you what Wesley motorsports, when you blow up, travel 2 1/2 hours after a family is awsome enuff to LEND you a car, get crashed in the b main, change a tire under yellow, pass on the outside which is near impossible, finish third, then were told your a lap down even after a protest where they cant tell us for shure why, Then you can tell me. I said it needs help, not anything else. The car owners wife who has been a scorer for over 20 years couldnt get a real answer. Then on top, they let others in LLM and 4 cyl classes have a promotors choice (nothing against those drivers) I'll throw some stones  😉  PS The case family are awsome.
